After installing a package, I'm trying to uninstall it with its dependencies, but pacman -Rs is only registering the explicitely named package, not it's dependencies. I tried uninstalling it IMMEDIATELY after installing it, so obviously those dependencies aren't being used by other apps.
The installed package is lib32-fontconfig. pacman.log shows this concerning the transaction:

checking dependencies...
Packages (1) lib32-fontconfig-2.12.0-1
Total Removed Size: 0.29 MiBI can individually uninstall the dependencies named in pacman.log, but there are two problems:
1) In pacman.log, some dependencies are listed in this line:
[2016-08-12 12:48] [PACMAN] Running '/usr/bin/pacman -S --asdeps ld-lsb>=3-5 lib32-fontconfig lib32-glu lib32-libgl lib32-libsm lib32-libxrender lib32-mesa'while others are listed in the lines formatted as such:
[ALPM] installed . . .Why are they listed differently and how do I know that they're all listed?
2) This doesn't address why pacman has behaved in this way, and I'd like to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks.

Try pacman -Rsc

What, exactly, do you expect it to uninstall?

lib32-harfbuzz and lib32-freetype2 have a dependency loop. Pacman-5.0 struggles with these (fixed in git). Use -Rs on those two packages and all will work...
