Distorted input sound (Line-in) - clipping edges

I have my tape deck connected via cinch > jack cable to my HP4730s laptop. There are two jack holes - headphones and mic/aux-in. When the stereo cable is connected, the sound is distorted.. clipping edges.
I checked alsamixer and Microphone boost is disabled. I tried also changing input volume in pavucontrol and gnome audio settings to absolutely minimum and it was still distorted whatever volume I set. I know the sound which is outputed from the tape deck is allright - tried with windows. I can't find any other setting what is wrong, why is the input sound so bad..

I edited

/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-input-mic.conf

and changed the code as wiki says https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … adjustment

Sometimes I plug a console into my sound card and I have to open pavucontrol switch to input devices and change port to Line In. I think this is the problem you are having.

On my laptop there's no line in item in pavucontrol.. There's only Microphone (internal) and Microphone (unplugged at this moment).. that's the "line-in".. On my Arch Gnome HTPC there is Line In. Right now I use HTPC for recording from external source because I was helpless with the laptop.
