Hi!
I recently started having these tearing issues with urxvt and compton. The lower part of the screen gets a lot of tearing most of the time in a terminal window. This will sometimes, for example, make the cursor disappear in vim.
Everything else is working properly regarding vsync (e.g. gtk windows, google-chrome, etc.).
I have tried running compton with different vsync settings without success. I have also tried to use the TearFree option of the intel driver which did not solve the issue. Running urxvt without compton fixes things, which makes me believe that there is a problem between urxvt, compton, and the intel driver.
I'm using the following compton options:
backend = "glx";
vsync = "opengl-swc";
glx-no-stencil = true;
mark-wmwin-focused = true;
mark-ovredir-focused = true;
use-ewmh-active-win = true;
paint-on-overlay = true;
detect-rounded-corner = true;
refresh-rate = 60;
dbe = false;
sw-opti = false;
unredir-if-possible = false;
detect-transient = true;
detect-client-leader = true;And set
URxvt*depth: 24The weirdest thing is that if I have a video playing in the same screen the issues disappear. It's like if urxvt was communicating repaint events to compton properly.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

I forgot to say that downgrading the xf86-video-intel driver also fixes things (to 1:2.99.917+674+g9154dff-1).
