Mate weather applet stopped working

Mate with weather applet has been working fine for years. Recently I ripped out my mate-desktop, which was of uncertain origin and would not update, and installed mate-desktop-gtk3, mate-applets-gtk3, and libmateweather-gtk3, all 1.14, clean. My heart was in my mouth, but the transition was entirely successful, including the weather applet, with all settings preserved.

Then, after working fine for some time, it just died. Current conditions shows just hyphens, Forecast just shows "Forecast not currently available for this location.", and Radar Map is present (usually) and APPARENTLY working. It doesn't matter what location I set; all of them are broken. At present, my entire system is fully updated, and nothing else seems broken.

Without my beloved Mate and its weather applet, my life is cursed and I am in deep depression.

Anyone else seen this problem? Found a fix? Please let me know what other info I can supply to help track it down; I will move mountains if necessary.

Re: Mate weather applet stopped working

It has stopped working for me just recently as well on Ubuntu Mate 16.04. Just showing 0°F. It seems we are not the only ones. The problem exists in GNOME also. Probably an API change on the part of weather.com.
