Multiple drive-multiple OS with grub

I have a peculiar configuration, and I'm not sure how to tackle this as I've tried in the past but haven't succeeded (granted, I have some more experience now).
I have a laptop with two drives in it -one 20G ssd and one 1TB hdd. I also have a 1TB usb drive with windows installed on it.
You've probably guessed it by now, bu how can I have grub installed on the ssd and detecting both drives (knowing that the windows drive will not always be connected to the machine) ?

Re: Multiple drive-multiple OS with grub

What you mean with "detecting both drives"? Do you use some kind of autmated Grub config creation tool?

I also had a Windows harddrive for my laptop that I sometimes put in my ultrabay to play some games. For this I only have a chainloader +1 entry in my grub for the other drive. The entry is always there. Just don't choose it if you don't have the drive connected..
