[Solved] libdbus, dbus and dbus-core

Hi all

I've had a search around the forum (and google) and found a few threads about similar problems but haven't found a solution to help me yet.
When running this:

[durir@mordor ~]$ sudo pacman -Syyu

I get the following output

:: Synchronising package databases...

I've tried to remove libdbus, but it will break a number of dependencies. Is it worth me forcing it? Or is there a better solution?

Thanks smile

What the hell is "geis" and why does it still depend on dbus-core, which hasn't existed in a long, long time?

xnemesis, how long has it been since you last updated your system? When was the last time you updated the "geis" AUR package?

Re: [Solved] libdbus, dbus and dbus-core

I do a full system update and clear all the cache out every 1-2 days. So I would have done one max 2 days before this message started appearing. I haven't specifically udpated geis. I've just looked through the logs and it was last updated a month ago.

Geis looks to be Gesture Engine Interface and Support installed from Yaourt. I don't remember installing it, but it was over a month ago. It says explicitly installed but it was likely a dependency of something. I'm going to traverse the dependencies, in the hope I work it out (as it can't be removed due to breaking dependencies) or someone else has a good idea?

UPDATE: I removed nux, so I could remove geis. Updated the system. Re-installed geis (not nux as it doesn't exist apparently) and it didn't force dbus-core. Have re-run system update following that and all is fine. I hadn't tried to remove geis using yaourt, just pacman and of course it said it wasn't a package, which led to my confusion. Anyway, thanks for your help smile
