[lxqt] launch application with root access on desktop

Hi,
i have an icon on the Desktop to connect to a VPN. So it asks password from the VPN but it has to be launched as root. On KDE with X-KDE-Username=root it asked for the root login first.
On lxqt it doesn't ask for root password so it doesn't work.
Is there a way to achieve this ?
Thanks
Sincerely

Bumping is generally frowned upon.

Why can't you modify the desktop icon to launch the application using e.g. gksudo (or its qt equivalent if there is such a thing)?
