npm hangs during install, write() errors

Hello, I'm copying here the GitHub issue https://github.com/npm/npm/issues/13833 in case someone is able to help.

Some users of Node.js and NPM in particular are experiencing some problems with strange write() errors on a pipe.

Please see the GitHub issue, all the available information have been reported there by few users and me.
