there is nothing to do
It says on the top that it could not connect to the AUR. I don't know why, so can't anyone help me? Also, I don't know what log files or configs to provide you, so please ask and I'll post ASAP. Thank you so much

I've never actually bothered to figure out why... but since everyone always says pacaur is so much better than yaourt, I tried it out once or twice...
pacaur relies on cower to find things on the AUR. And apparently cower just doesn't want to work for me as it always triggers that error where some or all of the packages it searches for aren't found due to connection errors.
yaourt never had that problem. :shrug:
As I was perfectly happy with yaourt, I stopped trying to use pacaur.

The false dichotomy between yaourt and pacaur is almost as annoying as the one between sysvinit and systemd. None of it is relevant to this thread however, which is about a specific pacaur/cower issue.
How do AUR helpers know if there is an update?

It uses ${epoch:+$epoch:}$pkgver-$pkgrel obtained via the AUR RPC interface.

Well, I don't know why pacaur didn't work for me, I just know it displayed the exact same issue as the OP has. And yaourt instead worked fine.
I only mentioned the false dichotomy because I see it as mildly ironic (peoples' strongly stated bias in favor of pacaur didn't help me, now did it? I prefer just using what works for me, and I wouldn't mention anything except it seems the OP has the same issue.)

A few pointers:
* #264 (this would be my first guess)
* #345
* #458
Eschwartz> If cower has trouble checking the AUR, this is likely due to a DNS server misconfigured that makes cower threads go crazy (see #358). Nowaydays, pacaur doesn't rely on cower for update check anymore (due to the fair amount of users that can't help themselves), but curl issues might still show up.

Agree. I still believe helpers that aren't part of the "green trio" are complete crap though.
