[SOLVED] Letters turned to non-latin symbols

I'm using i3-wm and from one moment to the other every alphanumeric string concerning the WM (like window titles and the stuff in the status bar) turned to weird symbols like squares, triangles and planes etc. What on earth is going on? :'D
Also, the strings with the gray background that represent code and text file contents from archlinux.org are like that.
Can anybody help me? Or is this purely an i3 problem? Given it's not a "user problem", that is ^^'

Have you installed ttf-dejavu and ttf-droid?  That might not help but having those for fallback glyphs seem to help in other situations.
