I'm using the latest KDE, and when I open KiCad and mouseover a button, I just get a blank rectangle:
What could be the problem?

It's not blank, the text is just almost impossible to see against that colour background. What gtk2 theme are you using? Try a different one.

Oh you're right, haha.
I installed gtk-chtheme, and switching to Raleigh (was using Breeze) fixed the issue - thank you! However, the theme is rather ugly, is there a workaround?

Note you can edit the theme too or create your own. So you could just use a Breeze-modified everywhere which is breeze but with the single change you want. Or you could use breeze for everything else, and breeze-modified just for KiCad.
