Hello,
I use lyx from extra (1.4.1) and when I try to insert a matematical character (anyone) , instead of getting the caracter, I get his name .
For exemple, if I select the integral character, i get a red "int", as If i had writen int in a formula.
Does anybody know what's the problem?
thx a lot

It's not font related.
1. export to pdf and view whether it's ok
2. if (1) works, look n the preferences, you can set to to view math characters as WYSIWYG

Hello,
So 1 worked perfectly.
But I cannot see what I have to change in preferences..
On my workstation I have lyx too , and I use default file & settings for everything except the shortkeys and it works ...
I don't understand what's wrong ..

I don't remember where it is exactly. When i have lyx access i'll find and write.

Hello,
Ok it works, but only when i leave math mode (by pressing spacebar for instance), isn't there a better way for doing it? Because it's a little bit boring

I'd turn if off at all
(and i know no other ways)

Hello,
After having posted on Lyx mailling list, and having installed the same version on lyx on my debian, I can say that it's not lyx's fault, but the archlinux's lyx version ...
I'll try to find the difference (I think that there is a lib/utility that is needed on debian but not on arch and that causes that problem ... I hope i'll be back soon with the solution

Finally I've got the answer.
The problem was simply that the arch package of lyx does not include some fonts . They are on lyx website (in a tarball) , than everything works
