Trouble installing yaourt

So I've been trying to install yaourt, but I've been having trouble installing package-query. I have followed the guide here to create a build folder, so I can run MAKEPKG as root. This is because I want to install adduser using yaourt, so I can add my default user. I did try and add a user, then add that user to the sudoers file, but I couldn't get that to work either.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Trouble installing yaourt

Moving to AUR issues.

Welcome to Arch Linux.  Is there some reason you selected that guide?  Are you sure Allan can be trusted wink
Why do you need to do this as root as opposed to the normal way?

Re: Trouble installing yaourt

You don't want to run makepkg as root, no matter what you think you need to do (and you don't want to install adduser).

This is how you install from AUR: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … g_packages

This is how you add a user: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Us … management

Re: Trouble installing yaourt

The admins must be in a good mood today. Usually they strongly advise against installing yaourt.

Many people here prefer pacaur as an AURhelper.

People here prefer you understand the manual process of building AUR packages before using any helper. If after that you decide to use yaourt while understanding its many drawbacks, that's up to you.
