Plasma 5 no transparency [SOLVED]

Last week's pacman -Syu killed my plasma 5 transparency.
In the forums I do not see any posts complaining of a similar problem, so I must assume is an isolated problem.

I did not have much time until now to begin looking for a reason for this problem but this is what I just found:

KCrash: Application 'kwin_x11' crashing...
Application::crashHandler() called with signal 11; recent crashes: 2
KCrash: Application 'kwin_x11' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/drkonqi from kdeinit
Warning: connect() failed: : Connection refused
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/drkonqi directly
/usr/bin/kwin_x11: FATAL ERROR while trying to open display :0

It seems kwin_x11 is receiving complaints... I, however, would suspect that if kwin was failing I would have more troubles
that I do ... so, I'm not sure I trust it to be the source of my problems.

In fact **everything** is OK, except for the transparency problem.

My system specs are :

OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: Quadro K600/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 3.1.0 NVIDIA 370.23
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.40 NVIDIA via Cg compiler
Driver: NVIDIA
Driver version: 370.23
GPU class: Unknown
OpenGL version: 3.1
GLSL version: 1.40
X server version: 1.18.4
Linux kernel version: 4.7.2

If anyone has any ideas to troubleshoot the issue please post.

Thanks,

R.

UPDATE:

I switched in Display and Monitor -->Compositor the Rendering backend = XRender and that was it. wink
I had been using forever OpenGL 2.0 without problems ... but that took care of the problem. Go figure.
