I'm not using virtual console frequently however, I "think" before I noticed big problems today this was my setup
localectl
System Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=C
VC Keymap: de
X11 Layout: de
First of all this "should" work, correct ?
localectl list-keymaps | grep de
amiga-de
atari-de
de
de-latin1
de-latin1-nodeadkeys
de-mobii
de_CH-latin1
de_alt_UTF-8
defkeymap
defkeymap_V1.0
et-nodeadkeys
lv-tilde
mac-de-latin1
mac-de-latin1-nodeadkeys
mac-de_CH
sunt5-de-latin1
unicode
I have no problems in X, using KDE, however when i switch to virtual console, tty, I have no umlauts. "ö" prints "["
I played around if I set de-latin1, which I never used, umlauts work, however extra key not: backspace, CTRL+C, Tab. They have to be combined with "ALT"
It gets worse, if I set
localectl set-keymap de
from inside X, i get stuff I never saw before:
localectl status
System Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=C
VC Keymap: de
X11 Layout: de
X11 Model: pc105
X11 Options: terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
( X11 model + options)
I simply used to set VC=de and I was good, any idea why this suddenly is to much for my system ? Thank you in advance.
