Cant run Open Arena very confused

I have a computer that runs Amd fx 8350 and has a gtx 960, ive installed the driver  packages but i cant run open arena (I assume you know its a quake clone) at more than 5 frames per second.  I feel like i should  be able to solve this but i just cant figure it out. Please enlighten me i am stupid
I installed open arena using yaourt (i hope i spelled that correctly)
I installed the nvidia package using pacman

Which driver have you installed? Where did you install Open Arena from?

Well, don't be selfish: tell how you solved it.  So the next person to come across your thread will get some benefit from it perhaps.

Also, edit your first post and prepend "[Solved]" to the title without the quotes if it is.

In it's current state though, "solved" without any solution given then this thread would be better off deleted.  And that is the "selfishness" I said: you got help from the community without paying it forward to the next person.
