Kernel lock up when booting with bumblebee and bbswitch

I have a fresh install of Arch on my recent MSI laptop (Skylake I5 and Nvidia 960M), on which I put bumblebee and bbswitch to save some battery life.
Both work great, the card turns off when not in use, and when I launch a program with optirun it runs on the discrete GPU which is turned off when not needed.
When I rebooted the laptop however, when LightDM starts the laptop freezes and his unresponsive. Removing bbswitch using the arch install iso removes the problem.
For now I can use the laptop without bbswitch, but the discrete GPU stays on. I don't know how to troubleshot this, any help is appreciated.
