[Solved]Using 'pacman -Ss sublime-text' yields no results.

I see that Sublime-Text is in the aur. However the below command yields no results on my system.

# pacman -Ss sublime-text

Ive also just run,..

pacman -Syu

with the same results. Sublime isnt in a special repo or anything is it? Ive had these problems before and it slips away from me what the solution was. I could download the sorce from the source forge website but then I wont benefit from pacman maintaining it.

If you can throw out a hint or suggestion it would be greatly appreiciated. Thank you.

That's not how the AUR works.

well if I do a search for vim in the aur it works.

pacman -Ss vim

Which would yield several matches. How is that not how the AUR works?

Hmm... OK, perhaps the link I gave was not visible enough. I'm sorry; here goes again:

I recommend you read the article on the Arch Linux wiki about what the AUR is, how it works, and how you can install packages from it. The wiki article is available at this URL: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR.

OK, there seems to be a more basic understanding problem.
pacman does not interact with the AUR. Perhaps you might also want to read this Wiki article: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Of … positories

Re: [Solved]Using 'pacman -Ss sublime-text' yields no results.

I think a fundemental understanding of AUR vs AOR was the de facto culprit. That and I think my dissability causes me to read AUR and AOR as the same thing; THIS WHOLE DAMN TIME!

So this last sentence in the second intro paragraph on the aur wiki page, was the answer to my problem.

If a package becomes popular enough — provided it has a compatible license and good packaging technique — it may be entered into the community repository (directly accessible by pacman or abs).

I also see that I can run makepkg on the packages in the aur and install with pacman.

Thanks!

P.S. Nice website ayekat. Is it purely static including your gallery?

Oh dear, no, that.
It's essentially some python that transforms markdown files into HTML and sends them back, mostly. The gallery is badly made (though, no JS involved).
But thanks, nevertheless smile
