Gnome 3.22 - Touchpad

Hello

I am testing the new gnome version and there seem to be major changes in Touchpad handling and configuration. Basically the more advanced configuration possibilities are a good thing. Nevertheless it broke the "right click" for me which was working by default with gnome 3.20.

Touchpad: Thinkpad T460

Anyone else experiencing problems?

The secondary button is not recognized anymore. The top of the Touchpad (see here http://www.laptopmag.com/images/uploads … s-g23.jpg) is divided in 3 areas to simulate right, left and middle mouse button. This worked previously (at least for right and left). With the new gnome version the whole top area of the pad is recognized as primary button.

Hrm weird. And you are running libinput correct? Or xf86-input-libinput (for Xorg)? It seems odd that the top of the touchpad is divided. That usually is reserved at the bottom. The whole top area of the pad being treated as a primary button is not new behaviour though, it has been that way for a number of years now

Yes I am (was) using libinput for the Touchpad (Wayland). I've switched to X.org for now and configured the Touchpad using synaptics which seems to be more mature in terms of configuration possibilities for Touchpads.

Meh I wouldn't say that. You can create a libinput.conf file and configure libinput to much the same degree as synaptic. I'm not sure why yours is acting strange to you though

brittyazel, he's right. The synaptics driver is much, much more configurable.

My Apple Magic Touchpad started acting weird somewhere in 3.20 too. They are breaking all kinds of stuff with touchpads it seems.

You both are probably right, however my touchpad is working fantastically and is far better with libinput with synaptics (qualitatively). I wonder if it is a configuration issue rather than a "libinput sucks" type of an issue.

In general I agree. It's no big deal just responding to an issue that I can confirm because it seems to be a GNOME thing.
