Can't get WiFi-Interface Broadcom 802.11/BCM43228 to work

Literally ripping my hair out right now.

this is my lspci output:

02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n
Subsystem: Foxconn International, Inc. Device e04b
	Kernel modules: bcma, wl

lsmod gives me the following:

wl 6377472 0
cfg80211 495616 2 wl,mac80211

- as you can see the module broadcom-wl is installed. However the device never showed up using ip link. Doesn't help that I'm an absolute newb in linux.

I've been cross-referencing https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_wireless for a few hours now. Please let me know if you need any more infos.

Yes please.  We can start with the output of the commands that that wiki page provides to determine what wireless card you have.

If it's 14e4:4359 then it should use b43.  Why are you trying to use wl?
