sony viao keyboard backlight issue

hey,

i'm hoping someone might be able to point me to some documentation or assist with this keyboard backlight issue. i just installed arch and the keyboard backlight doesn't turn on. what package(s) are responsible for the keyboard backlight? what services (if any) should be enabled?

the py script in the above link breaks when executed. here's the contents of my leds dir, not sure if that's useful:
