I'm hooking up a Lenovo ThinkPad -- an X1 Carbon with Mini DisplayPort
and so requiring an adapter -- to classroom projectors at my uni. The
ThinkPad is running current Arch, which I keep fully updated.
There are two different sorts of projector setup in different
classrooms, call them A and B. Sort A works fine. In the classroom
with sort B, display used to work fine; then the equipment broke; and
then it was repaired. After the repair to B, display works using
Windows 8 (my laptop is dual-boot) but does not work using Linux. When
I plug in the adapter, the Xfce "Display" selector doesn't show the
projector; and neither does command-line xrandr. Not detected at all.
I've tried a couple of different adapters and that made no difference.
I can think of two hypotheses here: (1) something about the repair of
the projector setup disabled display from Linux, or (2) some update to
Arch (kernel, Xorg, xrandr?) broke the display detection.
So I guess my question is, does anyone know of anything on the Linux
side that might be responsible for this? The time-frame I'm talking
about is that system B + Linux was last working about a month ago.
Thanks for any insights.
