I got a new main board for my dell vostro 3550 (now running an i5 instead of an i3). The system booted up just fine, but I was not able to start
$ xinit
afterwards. Strangly,
$ startx
works, but I cannot use the trackpad here (clicking is possible, though).
I double checked that the trackpad is connected properly, and it works with a live Ubuntu and is recognized by Arch (at least if "AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint" represents the whole touchpad and not only the click bar).
$ xinput list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
...
$ xinit
...
Fatal server error:
(EE) parse_vt_settings: Cannot open /dev/tty0 (Permission denied)
...
full xinit / xorg log (Xorg.0.log): http://pastebin.com/yPVxURPv
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf : http://pastebin.com/c6k8eU4w
Thank you for any ideas on how to fix the issue.
