IDE2USB Adapter w/ DVD-ROM is not recognized as optical device. Ideas?

Runing Arch x64 w/ Kernel 4.7.6-1-ARCH

Plugged in a legacy USB2IDE adapter with a Plextor PX-608AL Slot-In DVD-Drive. It's matched by the kernel:

[300680.040760] usb 1-1.2.7: new high-speed USB device number 23 using ehci-pci
[300680.162730] usb-storage 1-1.2.7:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected
[300680.162805] usb-storage 1-1.2.7:1.0: Quirks match for vid 05e3 pid 0701: 800100
[300680.162826] scsi host6: usb-storage 1-1.2.7:1.0
[300680.162919] usbcore: registered new interface driver usb-storage
[300680.164133] usbcore: registered new interface driver uas

with lsusb it is:

Bus 001 Device 023: ID 05e3:0701 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 IDE Adapter

But the DVD-ROM does not show up as a /dev/srX

According to the quirks listing in the kernel source it should attach as a optical device, but it doesn't.

The Bridge Chip is a Genesys Logic GL811E-04.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
