Plasma 5.8 panel is missing and new can't be added

Hi, yesterday I updated to Plasma 5.8

After successful installation and consequent restart, my panel disappeared from the desktop.

I tried to delete, restart and recreate all KDE related configs, but that didn't help.

I also tried to add new panel (as well as default panel) to the desktop. Nevertheless, nothing has happened - panel(s) haven't appeared.

The only thing I can do, is add widgets to the desktop from the list of available widgets. There I can see that 4x instances of application launcher, pager, etc. are running, because I tried to start panel four times.

Re: Plasma 5.8 panel is missing and new can't be added

This trick worked for me when I was having problems with panels. It's better to logout of Plasma workspace when following these steps.

In addition to the related configs, remove KDE/Plasma related stuff from .cache and .local folders as well.

Also make sure you have removed this file - ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

Run

kbuildsycoca5

When you login, hopefully the problems would have been fixed.
