After full system upgrade and gnome upgrade to 3.22, I have lost all desktop icons.
Icons on Desktop is enabled in gnome-tweak-tool. Icons appeared fine before upgrade.
Anybody else having this issue? Any possible workaround?

Hi,
It seems Gnome 3.22 use wayland by default and not Xorg. In wayland, desktop icons are still not working.
On login try to change on "Gnome with Xorg". (You need to click on the gear icon)

Doesn't work for me. After the upgrade all icons on desktop were lost and if i run a program nothing happens. Switching to Xorg solve the program problem but the icons are always lost.

scureza, your problem seems different. Check your logs and maybe open a new topic.

Solved uncommenting the line
#WaylandEnable=false
in /etc/gdm/custom.conf as reported here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1572574

Hi guys,
Where is the gear icon on the login screen? I only see universal access icon and information about my internet conection, battery, etc. on the top right corner.

...although it would be preferable if Wayland desktop could actually...you know...display icons on the desktop (call me old fashioned).

This also fixed it for me.
Thanks.
Side note: this also solved another problem I was having with games that had a first person view, it seemed like my mouse would "leave the window" and really mess with my view.
