My wife's laptop (HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC) fails to re-enable the touchpad on resume. KDE 5 is the WM, everything up to date.
I changed it from the X Synaptics driver over to libinput which seems to have solved the pointer failing to work after a random amount of time but hit this snag instead.
I have a workaround by hitching a script to the Notification system and forcing resume to enable screen lock and then making the script run as part of screen unlock. The script finds the device and uses "xinput enable" to start it again.
I'm not sure who to whinge at here. All I know is that when the laptop wakes from suspend I can ssh in as her and run:
$ export DISPLAY=:0
$ input list-props 11 | grep Device\ Enabled
Device Enabled (138): 0That shows me that the mouse/touchpad is disabled. I then run "xinput enable 11" to get it running and my little script basically does that but looks for the device (11) first.
Is this a problem with the kernel driver, X (via the libinput driver) or KDE?
Cheers
Jon
