Soundblaster problems.

Hi guys.

After building my desktop up with arch, I come up with a funny problem.
I got a creative soundblaster 5.1 soundcard. I found the wiki about this one, but after follwing this guide my sound sometimes working. But normally after a restart i doesn't work anyway. I run with digital output.

What can I do to make this work anytimes I restart my machine????

The wiki guide i Follow: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ALSA_Setup

I mean I also got a onboard soundcard, but I only use this for headphones?

Re: Soundblaster problems.

Don't forget "alsactl store" once you've got everything working right. This should save your settings over restart.

Microsoft stole my computer, Linux gave it back.

Yes; as root type the following:

alsactl store

then go to your rc.conf file and in Daemons() add:

alsa

Both alsactl store and I have added alsa in rc.conf.

Re: Soundblaster problems.

If i understand correctly you have 2 soundcards in your system (onboard + soundblaster 5.1) and want to use both of them.

some things to test :
-  When you remove the SB card, does the onboard sound work ?
- If you disable the onboard sound (in your PC BIOS) , does the SB card work ?
- When both are present, is one of them giving sounds or none ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: Soundblaster problems.

When both on - SB working.
Remove SB - onboard working
disable onboard - SB working.

The problem is that I'm using digital output. But it dosent remember thaqt each time i start my machine

Re: Soundblaster problems.

Ok, looks like i misunderstood the problem.

Almost at the bottom of the alsa setup wiki is a part listing 3 ways to have digital output. It'sTitled Getting SPDIF Output.

All 3 look like they should work after every boot, have you tried them ?

Re: Soundblaster problems.

I use multiple sound cards in Arch. Given, I don't use digital out, but both cards are working upon boot. Let me know if I can be of any help.
