Hello everyone.
I'm trying to use Arch without a DE for development.
I got to install Powerline, but I wonder...
It's possible to use the symbols without a DE?
I'm thinking of combining Tmux, Zsh, Vim and Powerline to build a development system and share it as an arch based distro later.
It's been 3 hours of research and I'm still not able to do it.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that.
You can find some console fonts patched for Powerline here;
https://github.com/powerline/fonts/tree … rminus/PSF
Its up to you where you place the files, I put mine in /usr/share/fonts/PSF. You can test the font using the setfont command and make it permanent by creating or editing /etc/vconsole.conf
Example
FONT=/usr/share/fonts/PSF/ter-powerline-v16b.psf
Full details are in the Arch Wiki

Thanks man. I got it to work now.
It isn't possible to make just like the terminal with a DE with all the bg colors and everything?
Sorry for the late response, busy times.

Hello Rodrigo,
Have you tried i3 window manager?
It is the best i could get without a DE.. very lightweight and customizable!
And, off-topic, are you brazilian too?

Hello GSiervi, yes I am brazillian.
I tried I3 already, but I want to only use the console, without DE AND without a window manager.
I want to force myself to learn how to use only the command line tools to work with everything in the system.
I am a web developer trying to speed up my workflow as much as possible with this knowledge.
And someday make a cool distro with all tools for this purpose, think of it as a Kali for webdev with cli.

Messing around on the tty will teach you nothing but to hate the tty.

Mr.Elendig, I disagree. So far was more fun than sorrow. Just these personalization stuff that are annoying. The rest flows just like a breeze.
