XOrg Resolution Problem

My computer has a display resolution problem. Whenever I start XOrg, and go into KDE, the resolution is always 1280x1024, but I defaulted it to 1024x768, because I have problems reading beyond that. This started happening when I installed ati-drivers (or whatever the package is for ATI Radeon).

I checked my xorg.conf, and set the default mode to 1024x768. Is there another file I must edit? Or is there a problem with my xorg.conf? Thanks in advance.

Here's my xorg.conf;

Re: XOrg Resolution Problem

In your "monitor" section, you have a ton of ModeLines, by the basic setup, you don't even need these, try commenting all the ModeLine out, and then restart X. The mode lines you have do indicate dimensions beyond what you need, you can just comment those ones out if you would rather.

Re: XOrg Resolution Problem

kill X, then try

"xorgcfg -textmode"

and choose the resolution you need.
TIP: when you configure your mouse, use (in other console): "lshwd", because xorgcfg offer you something, but in real life you use other.[/code]

Re: XOrg Resolution Problem

In your "aticonfig Screen 0" Screen section (in subsection display) add

Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

Re: XOrg Resolution Problem

I have deleted all unneeded modes. However, the problem still persists. I have not added the "modes" line yet. Here's my revised xorg.conf:
