gpg hangs on import private-key

I'm trying to import my private key that I exported from my mac.

I use:

gpg --import 'key.asc'

I get a window to enter my passphrase. Then when I enter it correctly. It doesn't return me to a prompt.

I'm really stuck here.

Log in to another shell and start a "dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/zero" and it takes off after a few seconds / minutes.

Elizine, what is your rationale for that?  Are you trying to create entropy?
I don't think an import requires entropy.

BTW, be extremely careful with that dd command.  Getting the input file and output file reversed would be catastrophic.
