On Canon's site there isn't a driver listed for MB5420. I also don't see one in the aur. I did find a driver for MB2320 on Canon's site Anyone know if that driver works for more recent printers? I can't find find any information on this printer for Linux.

Check Gutenprint (package gutenprint, don't forget the ppd database which is listed as an optional dependency). It contains drivers for many Canon printers. Check also the openprinting database: http://www.openprinting.org/printers (but I do not see your printer).
It is possible that you will have to select a similar printer. Just try and check, as you may try and check with the MB2320 driver (be sure you know how to properly uninstall that if it does not work).
Note that I see "Android" as a compatible OS: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/port … ers/mb5420
I think Android print via the "Google cloud print app", so maybe you can try to install that on Linux. I am not an Android speialist at all, but most probably this printer understand a common format (maybe pdf). I would try with generic drivers as a last resort. Or try to find another Canon printer that is also Android compatible and take its driver as is, most probably gutenprint contains some.

I tried a few drivers from gutenprint. Emailed the mailing list, and they made it sound like they might add support for the MB5400 series in the next few months.
All the drivers I've tried for Canon through foomatic haven't worked so far.
Google Cloud Print actually sees the printer, but for some reason won't print to it through CUPS. (Prints fine through a browser)
