Since a few weeks, I have had extremely poor image rendering on my KDE plasma desktop (vanilla from the Arch repos). An example is at
http://pasteboard.co/nKpGFDGVa.png
1) note the very blurry text
2) note the blurry icons at the bottom right of the window (these come from yakuake)
FWIW switching to LXQt complelety solves these issues.
The laptop I am on uses Intel graphics. Not sure what other information may be relevant.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like (some, apparently started "late" - not the desktop shell, could be a matter of "Text.NativeRendering", though) QtQuick elements are affected.
=> What does text in kwrite look like?
Any custom settings on the intel GL driver (on nvidia, I'd say FXAA is loaded)?
Are those applications (eg. systemsettings/yakuake) also affected on LXQt?

kwrite doesn't have any problems (text looks good). Neither yakuake nor systemsettings are affected under LXQt.
I have a vanilla driver from xf86-video-intel. The contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/* are
# Read and parsed by systemd-localed. It's probably wise not to edit this file
# manually too freely.

This could imply a conflict w/ the compositor, suspend if (SHIFT+Alt+F12) and start the otherwise problematic application.
If not, try uxa instead of sna resp. uninstall xf86-video-intel (which will get you the modesetting driver).

Suspending the compositor or switching to uxa did not help. Uninstalling xf86-video-intel did solve the issue, and I see it's recommended by many people independently of this specific problem... thanks!
