I've spent hours trying to get Mozilla SpiderMonkey, a JS engine, into an application. (It's called JSAPI or libmozjs.) I haven't done anything fancy, so far, just the hello world tutorial from the documentation. I've tried building optimized and debug versions 38 and 45 several times, and with flags that were supposed to help issues with GCC 6. (I got help from their IRC channel, JSAPI.) Apparently that wasn't the problem, so I'm trying to find out if it has something to do with Arch or the VM.
I've installed Arch from the October Release. It's just a base/base-devel install with a few basic programs like rsync. It's running in a VMWare Player VM on Windows 8.1. SpiderMonkey builds, but when including the libmozjs-.so into a simple hello world program, I get a segmentation fault.
Is there anything having to do with Arch or running in a VM that could be causing it?

Older versions of SpiderMonkey used to have problems when build with multithreading .
Have you tried 'make -j=1' to force a single thread ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
