Thought I'd have a look at monodevelop. Installed it with pacman (Man has this package dependencies?! Gets me almost the whole of GNOME?!)
Now I'm puzzled. Isn't the editor of monodevelop supposed to support syntax highlighting?
Mine doesn't...
Anybody got an idea why?

Same problem here. Also I don't know how to run gui designer which is supposed to be in monodevelop since 0.10 version.

Strange. Today I did a pacman -Syu and it updated gnome-common. Now syntax highlighting works!
Don't know if it's because of the update or something else? Maybe a reboot was needed?
Anyway. That's it.

Shamrok,
stetic (the monodevelop gui designer) seems to be included. I did a test with the solution wizard, creating a gtk# project.
But when I tried to open the solution monodevelop froze and I had to kill it.
I found out that stetic tries to find a gconf key for the metacity theme. I suppose it needs that for the stetic rendering.
So I had to install metacity as well and now it seems to work.
But shouldn't metacity than be a dependency for the monodevelop package? Strange I know...but one more dependency doesn't matter any more

About the missing metacity depends: please submit a bug report.

Franzb, thanks for information about metacity, now Monodevelop works as it should work :-) But still there is much to do to achieve same usability as MS Visual C# Express IDE.

Snowman: Ok. Will submit a bug report. (But it's my first on, so bear with me )
