I set up a useable environment without too much trouble in GNOME + Wayland. Now I'm trying i3 + X. (I did try Sway + Wayland, but couldn't get any shortcut keys working and this has been the path of the least resistance.)
When I start emacs in its own frame (through dmenu, or through `emacsclient -c`), the font size is too small for my liking. If I start it in a terminal window (`emacsclient -nw`, say) the font is sized just as well as it is with the terminal.
Before I discovered that font size was nice when emacs is in the terminal, I was trying to get emacs to use different fonts and font sizes, but nothing was changing.
So I have two possibly unrelated problems:
1) How can I get the font size to be nice when emacs launches in its own frame?
2) How can I debug where I'm misunderstanding font setting in emacs, when all I know is the problem is somewhere between arch, emacs, and the user?
