[Solved] No /sys/firmware/efi directory

I have recently bought a Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard with a AMD FX-4300 processor. When I start the installation with the Arch Linux Installer USB drive and verify the boot mode, I can't find an efivars or an efi directory. According to the installation guide this means that the system is booted in BIOS mode. But the M5A97 R2.0 motherboard comes with UEFI BIOS. So, I'm confused. Has this anything to do with the following message appears:

The system found unauthorized changes on the firmware, operating system or UEFI drivers.
Press [N] to run the next boot device, or enter directly to BIOS Setup if there are no other boot devices installed.
Go to BIOS Setup > Advanced > Boot and change the current boot device into other secured boot devices.

When does that message appear?   I gather you can boot from USB.  What other drives are attached?  Is the system in secure boot mode?

Re: [Solved] No /sys/firmware/efi directory

Thanks you, ewaller and grayski.
It took a while to disable secure boot because I didn't find it. Later I realized that I simply forgot to scroll down. Selecting Other OS instead of Windows UEFI mode solved my problem. When I boot now the message doesn't appear anymore. 'ls /sys/firmware/efi/efivars' tells me that the system booted in UEFI mode. So, tomorrow I'll install arch linux. I'll have to do some reading on UEFI. My old PC was an Asus A7V8X-X  motherbord and an AMD Sempron 2400+ processor. I never had to deal with UEFI.
