Hi, I'm having a weird problem on my secondary pc mainly with sddm.
PC is running Kernel 4.4.31 (lts), GPU is a 7970 (radeon driver) connected via HDMI: sddm starts, doesn't write any errors in logs, but I only get my tty1 text from boot (with the various daemon starting) with the base X cursor. Lightdm: just a black screen with both gtk and kde greeter.
LXDM works! But with a quirk, over VNC (x11vnc server, tightvnc or KRDC client), the Enter key doesn't work for the password input, making impossible to log in, yet it works for user selection.
I tried to fix the problem with sddm the most, since I'm most familiar with it:

sddm.conf: https://gist.github.com/de7f6c2b05ef425 … 22bd959913
The xorg log for sddm user is empty
This is the journal for /usr/bin/sddm:

sddm[13610]: Message received from greeter: ConnectApparently all is good, but the journal from /usr/bin/sddm-greeter show something intresting:

sddm-greeter[13670]: Adding view for "HDMI-0" QRect(0,0 -2147483648x-2147483648)

Adding view for "HDMI-A-0" QRect(0,0 640x360)for reference (yet the resolution is 1080p correctly).
With the same GPU, sddm works on the other pc, both with radeon (any kernel) and amdgpu (kernel 4.9), I have KDE installed on both, no gnome, no wayland. The only difference is btrfs vs zfs filesystem. Main shell is zsh, I checked that the fix for the shell bug was present in the version I have installed.
I tried diiferent themes, different VTs, sddm-git from the AUR. Also tried forcing a resolution with this as /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "Radeon"
Driver "radeon" #Choose the driver used for this monitor
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0" #Collapse Monitor and Device section to Screen section
Device "Device0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24 #Choose the depth (16||24)
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1920x1080_60.00" #Choose the resolution
EndSubSection
EndSectionThe only other custom files for X are 00-keyboard.conf and 20-radeon.conf.
I'm really out of ideas at this point.
