Hello,
So, everything was working fine untill this afternoon. I turned on my laptop and plugged the usb device to connect to my mouse, but it does not work anymore...
I've been using this mouse since I`ve installed arch linux and had no problems untill now... I did not update my system for the past 3 weeks, so i guess that is not it...
When I run lsusb, the usb is recognized as shown below
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:8000 Intel Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

But the mouse still does not work. Yes, it has a brand new battery.
I was looking into some other post from 2010 and decided to run the command they told the OP to run (dmesg | grep serio) and this is what I get

By the way, I've tried plugging a microsoft wireless kit (kb + mouse) in this laptop just now and although the kb works just fine, the mouse doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.

...You really should keep your system up to date. A lot of packages change within 3 weeks! What happens if you run a full upgrade, pacman -Syu, now? This is the very first thing which must be done before troubleshooting further. If it says everything's up to date, then you need to double check all your mirrorlists (generate a new mirrorlist, google: arch linux mirrorlist generator) and try again. Let us know when the upgrade is complete and what the result of it is.

Can you post back the output of dmesg | grep Logitech? On my system with a working, wired Logitech mouse, I see the following:

Also, what is the output of lsmod | grep usb?

Ah, now that it is clear this is a unifying receiver, have you seen the following wiki article? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lo … g_Receiver. Take a look. Otherwise, I dont have any ideas in regards to troubleshooting. You could maybe try a different USB slot? From what I can tell your device is recognized. But I am at a bit of a loss as to why your mouse died.

installed both ltunify and pairing tool and none of them worked hehe... I've tried all of my 3 usb ports, i just dunno what else to do =/
Whats bugging me is that every KB I plug in works and every mouse that i plug in, doesn't :S

Hm.... Is the mouse part recognized by xinput?

Sorry to bump this, but i've still found no solution to this problem =/

A mod will show up in about some minutes and tell you to not bump, ever. Next occasion, you might get banned.
a) why are there two "Logitech USB Receiver" devices in xinput
b) does "xinput test 11" or "xinput test 12" produce any output (run that from eg. xterm and move the mouse why the terminal has focus and the pointer is ideally above it)
if not, or rather in any case, try "sudo evtest /dev/input/<device>" where <device> is the event* file for your mouse (in doubt just try all on whether *any* produces any output when moving the mouse)
Online
I have no idea why there are 2 logitech USB Receiver devices listed on my xinpunt, i have only one usb plugged into my system hehe
Thanks for the advice on bumping, but should I create another thread if this one does not get solved?
and i tried xinput test and the evtest on the events from the logitech usb receiver, none of them gave me any output whatsoever when i moved the mouse around

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … ct#Bumping
If the device doesn't generate events on the kernel level it's either a kernel or a HW issue. Since you claim to not have touched the system, it seems more like a HW issue.
The receiver is recognized by doesn't forward input from the mouse - and it seems odd that two devices are listed (do you have two mice on the same receiver?)
What's a bit suspicious is the MS/Logitech/Mouse/Keyboard combination - you're aware that the logitech thing is a proprietary protocol "like" bluetooth but not "bluetooth"?
Does it work if you remove all other BT receivers and devices unplug the logitech receiver, turn off the mouse (it has a HW switch?), replug the receiver and turn on the mouse again?
Also, what do you mean by "ltunify and pairing tool and none of them worked" - they certainly don't "work" by pure installation.
