Hi , as the title says I have this problem this week with the kernel (s) 4.8.10, the laptop hangs at any moment (using steam, terminal or any browser) and I have to press the power button to shutdown and start again. I thought it was the ck kernel linux-ck-haswell-4.8.10.x with the new MuQSS 144, so I downgrade it to linux-ck-haswell-4.8.9-3 and everything worked ok (MuQSS 140) no hangs nothing, perfect , but then I wanted to try the linux-ck-haswell-4.8.11.x thinking maybe it was corrected with "something" about the MuQSS but again the same hangs , so I started the machine with linux-zen-4.8.10 to write in the blog of CK about the issue and the machine hanged up in Firefox, so is not the ck kernel.
So I thought maybe is something else that I installed/conf this last week affecting these kernels, the only three things were plymouth, preload and hibernation of the lap , I uninstalled/disabled and deconfigured the resume, and still the same hangs.
Then I started the machine with kernel linux-4.8.10 from the official repo just giving up in the others but then again the same hangs just doing a download . If I downgrade to 4.8.9 ck or zen or official it works ok the laptop, even with 4.9-mainline-rc6 works normally, but with 4.8.1x I have this hangs.
The Laptop CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz, 3429 MHz
So the question is how can I detect what is causing the hangs of 4.8.10/11 kernels , in the logs I don't see nothing.
regards

Bisect linux-git between 4.8.9 and 4.8.10? That should give you the first bad commit if it is a kernel issue.
You should be able to trivially adapt the commands from this post to perform that bisection https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p1670531
