Just tried with k3b burning the Fedora ISO (for my laptop), this computer uses Arch. Here are logs from k3b. Note that this also failed trying to burn a regular data DVD using xfburn the other day. I dual boot Windows 10, tried there as well and it also failed. I then tried burning an audio CD (not DVD) and it still failed. Can anyone help me here? I can read cds/dvds/blurays just fine (I actually have a bluray burner but it supports all 3 media types.) It's just writing that is the problem. Am I going to have to buy a new drive?

Here is k3b log from trying to burn an audio CD. The kernel log above was from the same (somehow I lost the kernel log for the DVD but the errors looked the same)

Hi,
if "ata5" is really the burner device then it seems that the drive or
the bus disconnect and reconnect as soon as a WRITE command is sent.
The error code 5 21 04 is not in the list of SCSI error codes.
The 5 21 error family means that the write address is not acceptable.
But even if the burn program would use a wrong write address, there should
be no such effect as seen in the kernel log. So it seems that there is a
hardware problem. Either in drive or SATA bus.
If you have a free SATA port, then it might be worth a try to plug the
drive's data cable there.
Have a nice day
Thomas
