So today I decided to install Arch for the first time. I followed the instructions on how to install Arch from some guy on youtube, who pretty much presented what's written in the wiki, but simper.
It all worked perfectly. But now after rebooting and figuring out how to install Xorg, I found out that I had no internet connection.
Is it possible that the reason for that is that I changed the hostname (root@hostname) by editing the /etc/hostname file? I can ping myself, cannot ping 8.8.8.8.
Thanks in advance.
PS: Writing a thread for 15 minutes and clicking Jump to Newbie Corner isn't a good idea.

I checked. The turial was legitimate, featuring the same content as the wiki. That's not the problem. Should I link it?

I have not set up the networking in any way. I have an ethernet connection and it worked out of the box.

A ping to google.com says: Name or service not known.
A pibg to 8.8.8.8 says: Network is unreachable.

First, don't bump your thread. If you have additional information to provide you can edit your posts.
Second, video tutorials are not supported no matter how "legitimate" they may appear.
Third, have you read this?

No. It is not legitimate. If it was, you would have a working Internet connection.

Arch does nothing for you automatically, as per the wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … figuration

I did read the network manual. Can someone please tell me if I should and how exactly I should set up the hosts (/etc/hosts).
PS: It's just as annoying being asked that kind of stupid questions as asking them.

man hosts

I'm not aware that anyone has asked you any annoying questions in this thread. They all seem pretty reasonable to me.

The installer environment automatically configures networking via DHCP if possible. The installed system does not; you have to configure networking manually, even if it worked "out of the box" in the installer environment. I've seen no indication that you did so.

Is this a wired internet? I assume so -- but I have been caught with this before.
What tool did you configure to manage your Internet connection? Tell us (specifically) the steps you took.

I'll give it a final try. You claim to have followed https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … figuration. Please post the exact steps you have taken (according to provided link) in order to set up your connection. If indeed you haven't configured anything, then the answer to your problem is precisely what alphaniner and jasonwryan have already stated.

Well I gave up. Figured I might as well reinstall it all, now that I know how to do it anyways.
Edit: All i had to do is enable the dhcpcd service.
