Gnome / Wayland trackpad disable the middle mouse button

How can I disable the the middle mouse button on the trackpad under Gnome running on Wayland? Right now the middle button is takes up ~20% of my trackpad and make the trackpad unusable for me. I use to be able to disable it though the xorg.conf.d settings however that no longer works since Gnome is running under Wayland. I've tried remapping the buttons though libinput as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … re-mapping however it doesn't change anything and resets on reboot.
