Cannot load crc32c driver [Solved]

Hi,

Actually I've been bouncing back and forth between two problems. I had this problem a while ago , then reinstalled from scratch and now it's back. I get the following error.

Grub loads, I select Arch linux distro then this.

starting version232
/dev/sda1: clean, 35699/3457024 files, 563272/13824000 blocks
[3.908921] EXT4-fs (sda1) : Cannot load crc32c driver.
mount : mount (2) failed : /new_root: No such file or directory
You are now being dropped into an emergency shell.
sh : can't access tty: job control turned off

Thanks!

Chroot into your system, add crc32s to the MODULES entry in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, then run

mkinitcpio -p linux

to regenerate your initramfs.

Alternatively to chrooting, boot the fallback initrd, that should contain all the modules for your kernel.

I think this did it! However I'm not sure. I get to a prompt where I can log in and mount the filesystem. However things "seem" different in that I don't seem to have internet access anymore. I tried to simply ping google and it didn't work. However if I boot off the live CD I can access the internet. Why would this be?

Does this sound correct to you? If so I'll mark as solved.

Many thanks!

Edit : I think I have new problems now so we can consider this solved. Thanks again!

When I was booting off the live .iso I had full access. But now that I switch over to my install it doesn't seem to work.

But no, I did not do any explicit configuration. Also running in vbox.

Sounds like you haven't been following the installation guide, please note that third-party guides are not supported here.

The section I linked you to is for configuring the networking for the installed system; the liveCD tries to automatically establish a network connection on as many hardware setups as possible, Arch proper does not do this unless you configure it to.

Ahhh thanks for your reply. I'm sorry if it comes off that way. I have indeed been following but I think the holes in my understanding are slowly starting to come to fruition.

I did not realise that the live archlinux .iso behaved differently then the installed version. For instance everything works on the live .iso but installed it doesn't. The fact that everything was working let me to assume that I didn't need to follow the network installation steps and that my hardware was autodetected. That's my greeness showing through I guess.
