I have Arch linux with gnome desktop & gdm. My laptop has HiDPI screen and also I attach it to an external non-HiDPI monitor.
I followed this to scale my external monitor using this command:
xrandr --output eDP1 --auto --output HDMI1 --auto --panning 2732x1536+2560+0 --scale 2x2 --right-of eDP1Everything worked fine until I discovered this annoying bug which freezes the whole computer with no response from mouse or keyboard and requires me to shutdown it manually.
It happens in several scenarios:
1- I attach my external monitor -> write the above command -> lock my screen (ctrl+L) -> close the lid -> open it -> freeze (the bug).
2. I attach my external monitor -> write the above command -> sleep -> wake it up -> freeze.
3. I attach my external monitor -> write the above command -> de-attach my external monitor -> attach it again -> freeze.
This bug only happens after I write the above command (or any xrandr command) to fix my external monitor scaling.
My laptop is Thinkpad t460p with hybrid graphics cards (Intel and Nvidia) with Bumblebee configured.
Does anyone have this bug? How to debug it? How to fix it?
