Hello folks,
I have this weird bug and I'm looking for insights, which I'm sure this great community can provide
.
On my desktop I have two accounts, and I switch accounts with ctl-alt-F1 or F2. user1 is using Xorg with bspwm, user2 is using Xorg with awesomewm.
Sometimes, when I switch accounts, the screen goes black, except three or four pixels on the sides where you can see the desktop behind.
If I wait a bit, it comes back, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can go to another console, sometimes not.
Now the weird part (imho), if I SSH to the account with the black screen (either locally in blind mode, on another console (ctrl-alt-f3), or from other user, or from another computer) the screen comes back immediatly!
This bug is here since a few months at least, so we can (maybe) rule out a bugged Nvidia driver (proprietary) release.
It appears with linux or linux-lts. WM are different between both accounts, so it's probably not WM related. It happens on both accounts (user1 and user2).
Every time, the ssh trick works!
Why would ssh'ing solve this Xorg issue ?? And if you have an idea why it occurs in the first place, I'd be glad to hear it ![]()
Thanks for reading!
Regards,
~k
