Hi,
Firstly, apologies if this has been mentioned many times before.
For as long as i've used linux and the X windowing system, this has always been a problem - when you close an X application, any data which it put on the clipboard is lost. This is really irritating as i'm sure people will agree
One of the forum posts http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … =clipboard mentioned a clipboard daemon for gnome which can be used but i couldn't get it to compile. I also read that a daemon is a less than perfect solution for the clipboard problem.
Does anyone know the best solution for this problem or anything about the whole clipboard issue? its been a long standing problem so i assume it must be a real pig to fix.I'm quite curious - is the clipboard managed by X or the window manager? Any suggestions/info/anything else would be much appreciated
Cheers
Dan

In your situation I'd suggest Glipper.
It works with most desktop environments.

Kickass! I didn't know there was a decent alternative to Klipper!

If you use xfce, there is also a clipman plugin for the 4.4 panel that does the same job. Just FYI
