Problems with brightenss (when using vga > rgb convertor)

I'm using something called "Grand hand view II PC (VGA) to TV convertor. I was wondering if there's any way of adjusting the brightness or contrast from inside Arch, since the sparesome (two) buttons on my convertor don't do much difference. It would also be nice to be able to save my setting so I don't have to manually change it every time I connect it to the tv. I'm connecting through the regular "screen" connector and user the RCA cable to connect to my scart on the TV. Anyone else been using this type of hardware? What's there to do?
