Seamonkey and flash

Seamonkey seems like a stable app now, but now it has another problem: loads the flash content, but don't run it, just simply stops. In about:plugins it is set to enabled, but the adobe test page says there is no shockwave player is installed. With firefox the plugin works.

Re: Seamonkey and flash

I did it of course, but the problem remains. In FF flash is working properly, but in SM it isn't. The Adobe test site reports the correct version, but the test flash don't appear in SM, but in FF. Now I keep digging...

Re: Seamonkey and flash

Have you tried removing the pluginreg.dat file from your seamonkey profile?
This and other things to try at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Browser_plugins

Re: Seamonkey and flash

The archwiki was the first I looked for. Removed the dat file, but the problem remained. I even tried with a fresh user and it still fails.

Re: Seamonkey and flash

If you run seamonkey from a console, do you get any helpful output echo'd to it when visiting the flash test site?

It might be helpful if you post which version of seamonkey you have installed and which flash: flashplugin or pepper-flash ?

Re: Seamonkey and flash

As a test, does it work if you try pepper-flash rather than flashplugin? https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pepper-flash
pepper-flash works perfectly for me under both seamonkey and firefox.

Edit - have you also tried to disable hardware acceleration (this is mentioned in the link @x33a posted)?

Re: Seamonkey and flash

I tried to disable hwacc, and SeaMonkey still refuses to start flash. Even the player, so I had to disable it manually. Changed to pepper-flash and freshplayerplugin, and the errormessage still the same without any trace of flash. One thing got into my mind: one error message says that there's a problem with gtk3. I have both gtk2 and gtk3 installed - could it be the reason?

Re: Seamonkey and flash

Well, seamonkey depends on both gtk2 and gtk3, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Seamonkey and flash

Today I found something strange: embedded flash videos are working correctly, but flash contents are not. For example Farmerama or honfoglalo.hu just stops the player in seamonkey for some reason.

Re: Seamonkey and flash

I also have this issue with 2.46. Tried disabling hardware acceleration to no avail. It works in Firefox.  I'm getting the following:

I tried to change to flash testing, SM says its 25.0.d0, but the problem isn't gone. The journal for this is:
