Icon pack doesn't work / Lot of missing icons

Hello

Today when I started my laptop, made an update (last one was approximately one month ago) and reboot system I encountered a bug:

I can't choose icon pack (icons don't change), lot of icons is missing (eg. redshift tray icon, mail reader icon in menu. There is only blank space for this icon)

Thanks in advance for all help

What icon pack? What DE? What version?

Please read How To Ask Questions The Smart Way and provide some information.

you should definitely update more than once every month, as it makes tracking errors more difficult.
were there any errors when you updated?

Re: Icon pack doesn't work / Lot of missing icons

This happened on my machine too, after rebooting after upgrading gdk-pixbuf2. Personally, I'm using numix-icon-theme-git from the AUR, but I have the same issue with all icon themes I tried from [community].  I'm running xfce.

This is the snippet from my pacman.log

[2017-01-09 00:50] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -S -y -u -u'
[2017-01-09 00:50] [PACMAN] synchronizing package lists
[2017-01-09 00:50] [PACMAN] starting full system upgrade
[2017-01-09 00:50] [ALPM] transaction started
[2017-01-09 00:50] [ALPM] upgraded gdk-pixbuf2 (2.36.3-1 -> 2.36.3-2)
[2017-01-09 00:50] [ALPM] transaction completed
[2017-01-09 00:50] [ALPM] running 'gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders.hook'...
[2017-01-09 00:50] [ALPM-SCRIPTLET] g_module_open() failed for /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-svg.so: /usr/lib/libharfbuzz.so.0: undefined symbol: FT_Get_Var_Blend_Coordinates

Downgrading does not seem to resolve the issue.

Uninstall Infinality.

Yeah I had a feeling that would be the problem. I uninstalled infinality and reinstalled gdk-pixbuf2 and everything is working fine now. Thanks.

Re: Icon pack doesn't work / Lot of missing icons

Thanks, had the same issue.  Installing "fontconfig" and then "freetype2"  (and answering "Y") effectively uninstalled the matching Infinality packages.  The issue went away after restarting Gnome shell (in my case).  In my case the system would log me out of my session when accessing file dialog windows which seemed to be caused by this, odd.

Infinality is not to be used anymore!? Why?...

*Nevermind, " https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/free … nfinality/ "

Re: Icon pack doesn't work / Lot of missing icons

in case anyone else has this problem, then use this guide to uninstaqll Infinality: https://gist.github.com/cryzed/e002e705 … 9e748c5671

and indeed reinstalling gdk-pixbuf2 will bring icons back as @jasonwryan suggested
